Each year around October, I join several old Cape Town friends in South Africa for a weekend of hiking and socialising somewhere in South Africa. In 2011 we went to the Cedarberg Mountain Range about 250km North West of Cape Town. This is a marvellous area and offers great hiking opportunities in a picturesque mountain environment. The hiking activity consisted of two routes – one across the northern range from Driehoek Farm back to the camping ground at Sandrif Farm (where we stayed) and the other up to the Maltese Cross. The first route included the Wolfberg Arch and Wolfberg Cracks – two awesome geological features while the second route involved hiking up the opposite side of the valley to the Maltese Cross, another amazing product of nature.
