Mt Kinabalu 2010

Whilst working in Singapore in 2010, the highest peak in South Asia, Mt Kinabalu (4095m) beckoned. Mt Kinabalu is near the north end of Borneo Island in the Malaysian Province of Sabah (for those who do not know, Borneo is divided between Malaysia and Indonesia).

After a struggle to book the key accommodation at the half way mark (success due to persistent effort by Katalin), we (me and 9 friends and work colleagues) made our way to the town of Kinabalu near the base of the Mountain. As we left work early on the Friday afternoon to catch the plane, the General Manager at the time, shook his head and said “I hope you all come back on Monday otherwise I have a big problem”…!

We did all come back…some a little worse for wear… but all in one piece. With only one exception, everyone made it to the top in his or her own way. The photos below capture the highlights of the experience. It was great weekend and memorable adventure…! Thanks to all who participated.
